CURRENT SITUATION
May 25th 2007
Dr. Al-Abbadi has been in Jwaidah prison, Jordan, for 24 days. After the initial sentence of fifteen days, Dr. Al-Abbadi has been sentenced for a further fifteen days, after which he will most likely be taken to the military court. There is no stature in Jordanian law under which Dr-Al Abbadi is legally being held.

MAY 2 - The regime arrested Dr.Ahmad Oweidi
MAY 3 -He appeared before Amman’s Circuit Court at 9:30AM.The appearance was delayed for 1 hour and 30 minutes to avoid the gathering crowd of 200 people, outside the court.
Dr. Ahmad Oweidi Al-Abbadi finally was sentenced for 15 days in Al-Jwaidah Prison, in a room 2 meters by 2 meters and with 14 criminal inmates. 600 police officers surrounded the court.
MAY 6 -, 200 supporters gathered outside Dr. Ahmad Oweidi Al-Abbadi’s residence in Wadi Al Seer District, Amman. Secret Police refused to allow Dr. Al-Abbadi’s supporters to visit him in jail.
MAY 9 - Mr. Omar Al-Alwan, Dr. Ahmad Oweidi Al-Abbadi’s Attorney in Amman, Jordan, was denied access to meet Dr. Al-Abbadi in prison. Prison authorities, based on orders from King Abdullah II, insisted that Dr. Al-Abbadi must wear prison’s uniform in order for this visit to take place
Amman’s Public Prosecutor, turned down another bail request by Dr. Ahmad Oweidi Al-Abbadi’s attorneys to release Dr. Al-Abbadi from jail, and gave no justification for his decision.
Dr. Ahmad Oweidi Al-Abbadi’s family members and attorneys were prevented from seeing or speaking to him in jail.
MAY 10 -1400 supporters and Jordanian citizens attended a town meeting, held in Wadi Al-Sir District of Amman, in support of Dr. Ahmad Oweidi Al-Abbadi. Several Jordanian public figures and personalities delivered speeches in support of Dr. Ahmad Oweidi Al-Abbadi and called for his unconditional and immediate release from the Jweideh Correctional and Rehabilitation Center. Al-Jazeera and Al-Arabeya TV satellite stations were prevented by the regime from attending this meeting.
MAY 11 - Amman’s Public Prosecutor, turned down another bail request by Dr. Ahmad Oweidi Al-Abbadi’s attorneys to release Dr. Al-Abbadi from jail.
MAY 13 - Amman Governor, Saad Al-Wadi Al-Manasir, turned down a request by Dr. Al-Abbadi’s supporters and defense team to organize a peaceful demonstration before the Prime Minister’s Office in Amman.
MAY 21 - Dr. Oweidi was sentenced to a further 15 days.
Amman’s Public Prosecutor turned down the 7th bail request by Dr. Ahmad Oweidi Al-Abbadi’s attorneys to release Dr. Al-Abbadi from jail. Dr. Al-Abbadi was jailed for 15 days on Wednesday, May 2, 2007. Since this date, Dr. Al-Abbadi has not been allowed to appear before a judge or released on bail, which is against and inconsistent with the current laws of the state. On several occasions, his family members and immediate relatives have been denied to visit him in jail.
MAY 22 - Dr. Al-Abbadi’s defense team insisting that “there is absolutely no law in Jordan that makes it legal for Dr. Al-Abbadi to remain in jail after the first initial sentence of 15 days. They added, “It is a decision from the top [King Abdullah II], not based on law….[the government] has not charged him with anything, since there is nothing to accuse him of.”

Dr. Oweidi has been sentenced to 15 more days! Bail was refused 2 times this week. This is entirely illegal.
JUNE 16th 2007
Dr Oweidi has begun a hunger strike in Jwaidah prison as a protest against the injustice against him. Next week a large demonstation in Amman will take place, to campaign for his immediate and unconditional release.
