DR. AHMAD OWEIDI AL-ABBADI, CHAIRMAN OF THE JORDAN NATIONAL MOVEMENT
Who is Dr. Ahmad Oweidi Al-Abbadi?
Dr. Al-Abbadi is a well-respected writer, historian and former member of the Jordanian parliament. He holds a Ph.D. in Political and Social Studies, Cambridge University, United Kingdom, and an M.A. in Islamic History and Geographical Studies, High Institute of Islamic Studies, Cairo, Egypt. He has worked as a producer of Jordanian TV programs and as a political writer in Jordanian weekly newspapers
Dr.Oweidi is also a historian of Jordanian and tribal affairs, having published over fifty books in both English and Arabic.
He was a member of the Jordanian parliament 1989-1993 and 1997-2001. He attended and contributed to countless seminars, workshops, and Parliamentary Conferences (local, regional and worldwide).
Before his arrest Dr. Oweidi was working as a Peace and Human Rights Activist. He is the Chairman of the Jordan national Movement <http://www.jordannationalmovement.org>, which “seeks to promote democracy, human rights, and political, economic and social reforms, and national strategic issues in Jordan, and constructive and peaceful dialogue to settle current and future conflicts in the Middle East Region.''
